Day 26 - Momentum in Relationships
[00:00:00] When you have people in your life who encourage you, celebrate your wins and support you when things get tough, you're much more likely to keep going.
Being around others who are also committed to their goals is energizing. When you see someone else putting in the work, it motivates you to do the same. On the flip side, if you're surrounded by people who constantly question your big ideas, encourage you to take the easy route, or simply don't dream bigger for themselves, it can really affect how you see your own potential.
Welcome to Clear and On Purpose, the podcast designed to help you cut through the noise and get back to what matters most. If you're feeling stuck but need to take intentional action, you're in the right place. I'm Kristina Slaibach, homeschooling mom of two and life and business coach, helping you drop in and align with your values and create more space.
Each week, I'll [00:01:00] be sharing practical insights and simple insights. Actual steps to help you find clarity, boost your energy and design a life that balances ambition with. Let's dive in and get clear on purpose.
Welcome back to Momentum Month. We are on day 26 and today we're diving into something that can make or break your momentum, the relationships. The people that you surround yourself with play a crucial role in your growth, motivation, and the ability to keep moving forward. We've heard the quote, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
So today we're talking about how to bring the others along on your journey, how to seek the right kind of support and what to do when the people around you don't quite get it. Relationships are everything when [00:02:00] it comes to sustaining momentum. When you have people in your life who encourage you, celebrate your wins and support you when things get tough, you're much more likely to keep going.
So, take a moment and think, who are the five people that you spend the most time with? Are they lifting you up or are they holding you back? you don't currently have a strong support system, that's okay. You can intentionally create one by joining communities like our Village Coworking Community, by listening to podcasts like this, [00:03:00] reading books, or following people who inspire and challenge you.
Five people that you spend the most time with doesn't have to be in real life, especially in this age. It's who you're surrounding yourself with, whose intention and inspiration and motivation you're implementing into your life. it's people and the ideas that you continue to surround yourself with. If you have people in your life that don't understand the goals that you want, there might be this desire to get them to support you.
But here's the truth. Not everyone needs to understand your vision. And some people won't get it. And that's okay. Instead of trying to convince everyone, focus on sharing your dreams with a few key people. Those who are open minded, supportive, and believe in your potential. If you want support, be clear about what that looks like.
So, do you want encouragement, a place to brainstorm, a pep talk when you get stuck? Let the people know, this isn't about [00:04:00] asking someone to hold you accountable. Only you can do that. But you can invite others to check in with you, remind you why you started, and even give you a little tough love when needed.
And if you really want next level support, hire a coach. Someone who can see things from an outside perspective. Ask you the hard questions and truly invest in your success at the same level you do. What if they don't support you? What if the people around you don't believe in what you're doing? That's really hard.
It can feel really lonely when the people closest to you don't get it, or worse, actively discourage you. Firstunderstand the most of the time, it's not about you. It's about them. People will project their own fears, doubts, and insecurities. Sometimes they're coming from a place of really wanting to keep you safe, and not wanting you to potentially fail.
[00:05:00] Or, it could be that they see you growing and changing, and they're afraid of losing you. You don't have to cut people out of your life completely, but you can set boundaries. So notice the people that bring you down, and limit how much you share with those. Who bring that doubt and negativity and instead balance it out by bringing in that additional support, an accountability partner, a group or a mentor.
And remember, you get to choose whose voices you amplify in your life. Beyond people, your overall environment can play a role in your momentum. So ask yourself, what can I do to create more positivity and inspiration in my daily life? For me, awe is a big one, that feeling of being so tiny in this vast world brings so much inspiration, so much gratitude, and so much positivity for me.
I'm a big sky and water girl, so watching a sunrise or [00:06:00] a sunset, standing under a starry sky, standing at the edge of the ocean and watching the waves come in, that reminds me how big and beautiful life is. Maybe for you, it's blasting your favorite 90s jams and having a dance party in your kitchen, or savoring a quiet cup of coffee.
It could be creating undistracted time with your loved ones, or just creating more space for laughter. Find what fuels your energy and bring more of that into your life. The more joy, gratitude, and inspiration you cultivate, the easier it is to keep your momentum going.
So let's take a look at the people in your life. Are they fueling your growth or draining your energy? Be intentional about who you share your journey with, communicate the support that you need, and create an environment that keeps you moving forward. And if you're looking for that kind of community, check out the Village Co Working Community.
